Choose happy!
SKELTON grew out of a family of musicians when father and mother, Craig and Deb, teamed with son and daughter, Dan and Jess back in 2017 to play music.
“When we started Craig was the only professional musician among us,” says bass player/vocalist and ARIA Music Teacher Of The Year 2018 nominee, Deb Skelton. “So I never put any limitations on anything because I wasn’t sure where we would get, but where we have reached in three years surpasses anything I could have imagined. Very happy.”
On their two 2018 EP releases – Resistance Is Futile! and Choosing Happy – SKELTON’s genre-diverse alternative pop music encompasses styles reminiscent of Ben Folds, Elton John, Missy Higgins and Toto.
‘All I Wanna Be’ (the second single from ‘Choosing Happy’), garnered a 2019 WAM Song of the Year nomination in the Act, Belong Commit category.
Throughout it all our music a resolute positivity, and it’s a manner of thinking that is lived. The Skeltons lost their family home in a housefire in 2012 yet emerged stronger having focussed on what they have rather than what was lost. It seems that Choosing Happy isn’t just an EP title.
Fresh music for the evolving species!
“I can see the joy in their faces (everyone’s, actually) whenever I’ve seen The Skelton Collective play.” - Bob Gordon - Around The Sound.
